On Thursday evening, October 11, the mezzanine of the Hotel Boulderado came to life for the 4th annual Keeping HOPE Alive event, a fundraiser for Project HOPE, a program designed to assist frail older adults in Boulder County remain in their homes. The event is twofold - raising funds through silent and live auctions to purchase services for participants in Project HOPE, and recognizing someone from the community who has done much to keep hope alive for older adults in Boulder County. This years award went to Bill McDermott from Louisville who has spent countless hours volunteering for both the City of Louisville in the civic realm and in direct service roles to assist older adults to have a better quality of life in assisted living and nursing home facilities. A very worthy recipient! The event was well attended and all had a great time bidding, winning, eating and drinking. Entertainment was provided by the event coordinator, MC and auctioneer - Cher Tufly. Proceeds exceeded previous years and thanks go out to the sponsors, Xcel Energy as the title sponsor, Boulder Community Hospital, Exempla Good Samaritan Hospital, the Hotel Boulderado, Daily Camera, and an anonymous donor - all at the platinum level, and Longmont United Hospital at the silver level. Due to support from the sponsors, all proceeds from the event go directly to the purchase of services for frail older adults in Boulder County. This is an event not to miss so stay tuned for next year's date!!
